The Grand Chancellor and Cardinal Archbishop of Valencia, Antonio Cañizares, has named José Manuel Pagán Agulló as the new Rector of the Universidad Católica of Valencia San Vicente Mártir (UCV), member institution of ICUSTA.
José Manuel Pagán replaces Asunción Gandía, who requested that the Grand Chancellor end her time as Rector of the institution and who presented her resignation effective at the start of the upcoming academic year, having exceeded the age of retirement.

The Grand Chancellor Antonio Cañizares and Asunción Gandía have manifested their mutual appreciation for the support and commitment they have shared and with which they have managed this period of the UCV. The Grand Chancellor incorporated Asunción Gandía as a member of UCV’s Board of Trustees.

With respect to the new Rector, José Manuel Pagán, the Grand Chancellor emphasized among the many qualities to his credit, his profound knowledge of the UCV with which he has been associated for more than a decade, the will to continue the habit of excellence of the UCV, and his proven capacity in management and dialogue, all of which will continue strengthening the University.

Pagán is a Doctor of Law, MBA Executive, lawyer and professor of tax law. He has developed his professional practice for more than twelve years in the heart of the university institution, in which he has held responsibilities in the fields of teaching and university management, such as being the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs from 2011 to 2016, and from that year until the present, the Dean of the School of Law.

Earlier, in 2003, he initiated his journey as an adjunct professor of the Center of Business Studies of the Universidad Politécnica of Valencia, which later became part of the UCV, and held various academic management positions in the University, such as Secretary of the School of Business Studies and Deputy Secretary General of the University.
